Recap: Public AMA - March 2026
The latest Top.gg Public AMA began the way the best community AMAs often do: with a broken chair, people discussing dinner plans, someone crashing “the market”, and a podium slowly filling up with familiar names.

This AMA gave us one of the strongest looks yet at what Top.gg is building toward next: cross-platform discovery, deeper creator ownership, new API capabilities, Ads V2, and a wider ambition to help people discover the parts of the internet that are usually hidden behind closed platforms and difficult algorithms.
But quick pit-stop - here's some tunes that our community is listening to:

Q: What’s the latest update on Roblox support?
“We’ve been working on Roblox quite a bit, and it’s progressing very nicely. The idea is very straightforward to start with - similar to how Discord bots and servers work on Top.gg now. You’ll have your listing pages, your game page, and a direct play button that opens the Roblox game instantly.
Every game submitted to the platform is going to be reviewed by our team to help keep the space safe. As I said last time, if we can’t ensure that, then we’re not going to do this at all. It’s still unlaunched, but people can already play around with it on test-top.gg. We’re still preparing the last few things, but we’re getting really close.”
Q: Why Roblox?
“As you might remember, Top.gg’s whole mission is to bring forward the things that are not easily findable. A Discord server is very hidden inside an app, and we want to do that for all platforms moving forward. Roblox is one of those things where, if you’re a game developer, it can be really hard to get into that algorithm. So it’s a really interesting platform for us to experiment with first.”
Q: Can Roblox games be added to teams alongside bots and servers?
“Yes, you can add it to any team you want. It works the exact same way as Discord bots or servers do. What is awesome is that you will also be able to connect things up - for example, having a support Discord server for your Roblox game. As we grow all of these things, they’ll become more of a unified platform.”

Q: What’s happening with Minecraft?
“We’re also looking into starting our integrations for Minecraft. This is something that will happen at the same time as Roblox continues to progress.
What’s going to be most interesting about this for Top.gg and creators is that you’ll be able to have a Discord server related to your Minecraft server, or related to your Roblox game, and create this network effect of several places where you as a creator are on the internet.”
Q: Will the Minecraft integration work for non-vanilla servers?
“Yes - right now I think we support six mod loaders separately, and all of them will have the same capabilities.”
Q: Which mod loaders are supported?
During the AMA, Alexander asked whether Top.gg would support Bukkit, Paper, Forge, Fabric, and NeoForge, and Veld confirmed that all of them are supported. He also added that the team is looking into proxy-style and multi-clustered setups as well, with BungeeCord and Velocity specifically coming up in chat.
Q: Would Minecraft server hosting platforms work out of the box?
“I think that depends on the software they use. If they allow for mods or if they have something like Bukkit, then we can definitely do it. Otherwise it’s going to be really tough. You may still be able to add the IP, but you won’t be able to have the rich experience that we plan to have.”
Q: Will there be guidelines for Minecraft servers?
“I think it’ll mirror the bots or the game section quite closely, and generally our starting guidelines go more around the platform terms of service. As long as we deem it safe, it’ll definitely be a part of it.”

Q: What’s the latest on the ad system?
“We are pretty close to the first public test now for the ad system. Basically, the way it’s going to work is like every other ad system you might know - like Instagram or Reddit Ads Manager. You’ll just be able to set your budget and target what you want.
If you want people who speak English, that’s possible. If you want to target select tags, that’s possible too. No more active bidding, no more arguing over the bidding system with other people. You won’t have to worry about that anymore - just set your ad campaign and that’s it.”
Q: Will Ads V2 just replace auctions, or go further?
“We do plan to launch this first as more or less a one-to-one copy of the auction systems in terms of flexibility, maybe a little bit more flexible with some additional bulk filtering. But as we move it forward, one of the biggest things that I think is going to help people is automatic optimisation.
The system is built in a way that we can toss your ads into a wall, give you a bunch of different placements, see what works best for you, and then give you the best results that grow you the fastest. We’ll just do that basically like a billion times per day to see what is simply the best for you - how you can grow faster while paying us less money. I know, horrifying.”

Q: Are there going to be terms changes or stricter rules?
“I don’t think we have any planned out right now. Usually something happens that kind of prompts a change. We just want to make sure that everything is safe for people of all ages that are allowed to be on a social-type platform. So if there’s something that we find as a loophole, we will certainly let everyone know.
We just want to make sure that we are transparent about the changes that are being made, and when they do happen, you will hear from us.”
Q: Some bots on Top.gg have features that under-18s probably shouldn’t see. What should users do?
“The best thing you can do is bring them up with a moderator in a ticket. They will come back to you and see if we allow the content they serve or disallow it. Generally, we just want people to be safe - that’s our first priority here. Thank you so much for looking out for us there.”

Q: Is assembling a moderation team one of the hardest parts of building a platform or community from the ground up?
“I think moderation goes hand in hand with growth. As you start out, you will need much less moderation since there’s not a lot of people yet, but as you scale up, you scale up your moderation team.”
Q: What advice would you give to someone building a community who wants to keep it civil, but doesn’t have many people to help moderate?
“It’s always best to look at people who seem really interested in your product and see if you can get them to help you. I think asking a friend who might not be interested is a worse solution than having someone who actively enjoys the platform and is interested in its future.
When people don’t have interest, they tend to check out pretty quickly. And if you have that, then your moderation is also going to go down. People who do have that innate interest will look into details and be proactive about issues, and I believe those are things that especially early on you want to move quick on.”
- clear community guidelines
- friendly onboarding
- setting a positive tone by example
All of those things reduce the number of problems that need moderator intervention in the first place.
I also noted that some of the best moderators are often the people who naturally show helpful behaviour over time, rather than simply being friends of the founder. Reliability and alignment with community values matter more than familiarity.
Q: Is it acceptable for smaller platforms to use AI moderation if they lack resources?
“I think having some automated moderation is totally fine. Not everything needs to be caught by a human - it can be a first line. Not everything needs to be seen by a real human person. A good example, but maybe a bad execution, is YouTube. Their moderation is a bit too AI-moderated nowadays, but it’s a good example because they have a lot of tools to catch bad things before anyone even has to see it.
If they actually had a way for creators to solve their issue in case of false positives, it would be a lot better than just having it be fully AI.”

Q: Can developers contribute to Top.gg?
“I don’t think you can contribute to the site itself right now, but we do have public software kits for creators - for example for the API. Most of that is done by Null right now, and I’m pretty sure he would love some help there. The best thing to do is talk in the Top.gg open source channel and see if you can help out.”
Q: What advice would you give someone who wants to build something like Top.gg, or get into development in general?
“Start with the basics. It’s very important that you understand the fundamentals behind what you’re doing, and then you can really speed up. So if you want to build a website, understand how HTML works, understand how to style a web page, and understand the current best practices for it.
It’s going to save you so much time in the long run by doing that beforehand. Basically, planning is key.”

Q: Will Top.gg support things like mobile apps or app-style listings?
“It’s a bit tough. Fighting against an app store would be really complicated. Anything like that would be super, super far away, and would probably mostly just be for the sake of having that integration. We really want to focus on things that are harder to find - things that by default are just not explorable. Not by Google, not by an Apple App Store, not by Steam. We really want to help people discover the undiscoverable part of the internet.”

One Final Note
As Top.gg builds toward a more connected platform where creators can bring together the different parts of what they make online, especially in spaces that are hard to discover through ordinary channels, Roblox is the first major step in that direction. Minecraft looks set to follow. Ads V2 is moving closer. Creator control is expanding. And future profile customisation is clearly on the horizon too.
Thanks to everyone who joined the AMA, asked questions, and helped shape the conversation. Your feedback continues to influence what Top.gg builds next, and if this AMA was any indication, the months ahead are going to be a very exciting time.
